I am lucky to be a guest of Fjord Norway with Simply Sweden. The last couple of days I have been travelling around Stavanger and Lysefjord. All this is only a couple of hours flight from the UK.
Just one of the things we have done is hike up to Preikestolen. I have literally just read about the earthquake in Nepal with many dead and that the Everest basecamp has been hit with a large avalanche. The Preikestolen hiking trail over the past few years has been maintained by Sherpas from Nepal. We spoke to our guide and he said they would carry these huge rocks by hand, and for the most part break stone with just a hammer and chisel. When you see the work they have done with their bare hands, the size of the rocks, it is a testament to them.
